OVERVIEW

Encore Access is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to implement and maintain effective accounting and finance strategy, policies, procedures, and controls while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Ideally, you’ve worked in as a leader in the Accounting department of a business going through a similar growth phase, particularly one with remote workers. We are looking for someone comfortable working in a startup environment where things are not fully defined. The right person for this role can thrive while working independently and as a member of a team. We want someone who is not afraid to seek answers on their own. This role will report directly to the CEO, who takes a hands-off approach with his team.

Working from home isn’t for everyone! JOB SUMMARY

The Manager of Accounting (Controller) is responsible for the daily administration of the accounting and finance functions of the company. The Manager of Accounting (Controller) is responsible for organizing and managing all financial matters of the company. This is a hands-on position and will require flexibility and the ability to alternate between transactional tasks such as processing accounts payables, to higher level strategic functions of creating and implementing best practices for accounting and finance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design, implement and maintain effective accounting and finance strategy, policies, procedures, and controls while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Lead the team to accomplish said goals.

  • Respond to CEO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate his financial needs.
  • Proactively drive efficiency through automation and streamlining accounting processes.
  • Assist in setting the financial policy and direction while also being an active participant in and a driver of the organization’s overall business strategy.
  • Manage accurate and timely closing activities such as journal entries, reconciliations, review of transactions for proper accounting treatment, quarter and year-end payroll closing, related reporting, including revenue recognition, general ledger.
  • Reconcile high volume credit card spend and merchant accounts, including investigating and responding to chargebacks.
  • Investigate and reconcile canceled orders, credit card charges, and accounts. payables/receivables, and develop best practices for expense allocation and coding.
  • Develop processes and procedures for General Ledger accounting and expense allocation.
  • Develop methods for the control of cash receipts, deposits, and disbursements; the purchase of services, supplies, and equipment; the documentation of payment; and the preparation and processing of payrolls.
  • Manage functions performed by outside parties, such as income taxes, credit card processing, broker services, payroll, etc.
  • Perform accounts receivables and ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc.
  • Ensure banking, statutory, tax, closing, and other activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure deadlines are met in accordance with company’s policies and procedures.
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of ad-hoc reports.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, external partners, vendors, and others courteously and professionally
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of finance and accounting best practices and regulations. (AKA stay up to date with accounting and finance policy, regulation, best practices, statutory requirements, etc.).
  • Oversee and/or prepare annual operating budgets, and review expenditures to ensure that limits are not exceeded.
  • Oversee and/or prepare management reports at standard intervals.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors or equivalent; MBA preferred
  • 6+ years of experience in accounting and finance required
  • 1-2 years QuickBooks experience required
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, specifically revenue recognition, internal controls, cash to GAAP conversions
  • Strong experience managing various accounting and finance functions such as billing, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, payables
  • Expertise in financial modeling and presentation, ticketing industry experience is a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with Tableau and/or SQL a plus
  • Experience developing custom software to solve unique and challenging accounting problems a plus
  • Small business experience helpful
